The Tsitsikamma Trail is a southern Cape hiking paradise, journeying through extensive indigenous afromontane forest and mountain fynbos. This slightly shorter variation of the full 6 Day hike lets us enjoy just enough of the enchanted mountain landscape.
Translate as ‘Honey bush’, the cabin is perfectly situated on the mountain side. A very pleasant swimming pool lies within rolling distance away from the hut. There are two choices available to this hiking trails entrance, one on the east and the other on the west of the Boskor Sawmill. The former is a direct route only 5 km away through the plantation road and Kleinbosrivier road. The latter, starting ±400m west form Boskor, heads around the Heuningkop peak and joins the hiking trail from Keurbos hut in the Heuning kloof for a 9 km route. The Heuningbos indigenous forest has many hidden secrets awaiting hikers further ahead. After the final descent towards the hut, you will cross the Kleinbos River twice before reaching the Heuningbos Hut. A very pleasant swimming pool lies within rolling distance away. The following day is exited on either route.

The Bloukrans hut is situated on the verge of a cliff and offers incredible views of the river gorges below and Peak Formosa and the Tsitsikamma Mountains to the north. A couple of hundred metres beneath the balcony a coca-cola coloured waterfall tumbles away. The hut can be reached via the access route from the old Blaaukranz forest station or, for a long hike option, can be reached from the Natures valley camp 17.7 Km away through various sections of Natural forest and Fynbos.

Optional equipment porterage (slackpacking) now provides hikers with the chance of having their equipment transported between overnight huts. To be arranged prior to the Hike.

This trail support package is designed for trail runner booking the “Trail Runner” package in our combo services with MTO Tsitsikamma trail.
This combo service allows clients to enjoy running the infamous Tsitsikamma Trail with out worrying about how to get your gear to end of day destination. There are two options with this package – a weekend combo and a 5 day combo. Please read and chose your preferred choice carefully.
Our team will porter your bags, food and drink to each end of day stop, collect them in the morning and porter to your next destination.
The package also includes a night before your trail running experience with an option to add on an extra night at the end of your trail run with catering and the pleasure to relax in our large wood fired hot tub to ease those legs.
We have worked closely with MTO to design a perfect trail run package that starts with your arrival at Firefly Falls on a Thursday. Groups will enjoy a traditional South African braai on this evening of arrival and a pre- trail run briefing from our team.
After breakfast on day 2, we will transport clients to the start of chosen trail. Distances vary between 13 km in a day to 30 km in a day depending on your choice of trail option. Email us for more info – info@fireflyfalls.co.za
Huts are equipped with all cooking equipment needed, as well as donkey geysers for a warm shower, with many swimming spots along the way for your enjoyment.
At the end of your trail of choice, our team will meet you and transport you back to Firefly Falls Biocamp© where guests can enjoy a hot shower, or even spend an extra night and enjoy our large wood fired Hot tub.
So pack your running gear, your over night bag, food and drinks. Let us do the rest while you enjoy this amazing Multi day trail running experience.

- 15 man Hot tub will be fired up fr your arrival to soak in and soothe the (not so) sore legs after completing the trail.
